how do I prepare my dog for a day at doggie daycare?
First, please make sure your dog is fed early enough in the morning so that it has been able to digest most of it's morning meal and so that it has had time to eliminate. If you are not able to feed your puppy, who still requires 3 feedings per day, with enough time to allow it to go to the bathroom, please wait and we will feed your pup a small morning meal once we reach the facility. Older dogs should just skip that morning meal if you did not allow enough time as sometimes it is almost best for your dogs comfort if you have not had time to feed him or her.
Travel and playtime with other dogs on a full stomach and bowels, as you can imagine, can be very uncomfortable and potentially dangerous to their health so please set aside plenty of time before we arrive.
Also, make sure your dog is wearing it's Kamp Kollar and tags. When we roll up you can be sure your dog will be ready to go on that day's fun and adventure!

do you allow walk-ins?
Yes, we do allow walk-ins. However, new customers with dogs that have never been to Kamp must make an appointment so we can get to know your dog first. Also, there are forms to fill out and paperwork we will need before your dogs first day at Kamp.
Walk-in hours are limited. We do not offer half-days.
We always appreciate a phone call if you plan on bringing your dog in that day.
Please call us to set-up an appointment at 760-207-5267 or 760-214-6085.

what do I need to enroll my dog in doggie daycare?
Your dog's vaccination record is a must. Also, if your dog is old enough to have received the rabies vaccination, we will require that verification as well as a copy of your dog's current license with the city of San Diego. Please call your vet or San Diego Department of Animal Control to apply for or receive a copy of your current license. Please give us a call for more information. what does my dog do all day at kamp kanine?
Your dog starts it's day with us by riding in one of our climate-controlled vans. (unless you are using our walk-in service.) Our vans are safe, secure and comfortable. All of our Kampers really enjoy going for a ride. And, time in the morning allows all of the dogs to relax a bit, digest their morning meal and bond with their van-mates in a controlled environment.
Once at Kamp, for the first 30 minutes or so, it is meet-and-greet time! All of the dogs are placed in their assigned yards with dogs that they will play well with. We have 6 large yards so that we can place all dogs with appropriate play-mates.
The rest of their day at Kamp is filled with tug-o-war games, fetch or a splash in the kiddie pools if they like. Some or our Kampers just enjoy lying in the shade or hanging out with a Kamp Kounselor. We have a large staff to provide supervision and personal care and attention to all of our K9 Klients!
If you have paid for an extra service for your pooch, such as a bath or some obedience training, these will be added to you dog's activities for that day.
The long, fun day at Kamp ends with a ride home in the aforementioned van. Your dog will be able to wind down from that days activities, perhaps snooze a bit (which many do) and be taken home happy and exhausted from a great day at Kamp!

at what age can my dog start at kamp?
Definitely after fear impact stage and after all vaccinations have been administered. Usually after 16 weeks of age. We temperament test all dogs prior to accepting them at Kamp. If we feel your dog needs a little more time to grow and mature, we will ask that you wait a bit longer before starting. (Puppies must be current on at least three of the standard four series of puppy shots.) All dogs must be neutered/spayed if over five months of age.
What happens on days when there is inclement weather?
We pay very close attention to weather forecasts. When steady, heavy rain is expected we will cancel Kamp that day. Sometimes even the weather folks are taken by surprise. If Kamp has started and it begins to rain steadily, we will return the dogs home.
On hot weather days (when the temperature reaches 80 degrees or above) we implement a hot weather policy. We limit and closely monitor activity: No toys or games. We fill the pools with cool, fresh water and fill the drink buckets frequently and keep the dogs quiet. We also keep a very close eye on all of the Kampers for any signs of heat distress. We have abundant shady areas for the dogs to utilize. All of our Kounselors are certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.
